Chemical Form:

When the thiol groups (-SH) of cysteine in 2 GSH molecules form a disulfide bond, the 2 GSH molecules combine to form a GSSG molecule.

State:

Reduced form, possessing antioxidant activity, capable of directly reacting with free radicals to neutralize them

In the oxidized state, it lacks antioxidant activity and is typically formed from GSH that has been consumed during the reduction process.
